Nuclear Medicine

Body and Cardiac Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine testing uses a small dose of radioactive material to obtain images of various organ systems.

About Nuclear Medicine

With the exception of intravenous injections for some procedures, nuclear medicine procedures are painless.

The actual radioactive material used is called a radiopharmaceutical, or sometimes a radiotracer. Radiopharmaceuticals can be administered by swallowing or by injection.

A complimentary CD of your nuclear medicine study is available to you after the examination is completed.
