MRI

High-Field Open MRI

MRI medical imaging uses no radiation and is non-invasive. An MRI creates detailed pictures of almost all internal body parts including bones, soft tissues and organs.

About MRI at Northeast Radiology

Northeast Radiology has two different kinds of MRI equipment. Each has its advantages:

  • High Field MRI

    • The highest resolution images

    • Fast/shortest examination times

  • High-Field Open MRI (pictured above)

    • Truly open design with 270-degree unobstructed view

    • Ideal for children, anxious or claustrophobic patients

    • Wide patient table for easier positioning and more room to relax, accommodating patients up to 660 lbs.*

    • 1.2T High-field open MRI for the highest-quality images

    • Oasis MRI exams are quick, with most studies being performed in half an hour.

Your safety is of primary concern to us. You will be asked the same question multiple times by different people as well as asked to complete a safety questionnaire related to your specific MRI study.

A complimentary CD of your MRI study is available to you after your examination is completed. It is wise to keep this CD as part of your personal medical history file.

* At Northeast Radiology, we can accommodate patients up to 660 lbs depending on body habitus (500 lbs if the patient is unable to walk and requires a stretcher during scan).

Quality Standards

Northeast Radiology Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence

The DICOE program, which represents the pinnacle of medical imaging care, is an achievement that goes beyond accreditation to recognize best-quality imaging practices and diagnostic care. This includes a comprehensive assessment of the entire medical imaging enterprise, including structure and outcomes. The DICOE designation recognizes excellence at multiple levels — including the professional staff, the technology and the policies and procedures the organization follows — and superior patient care.

Northeast Radiology Magnetic Resonance Imaging Accreditation

The American College of Radiology (ACR®) offers several accreditation programs for MRI. This core MRI accreditation evaluates the qualifications of the personnel, the quality control program, MRI safety policies and image quality specific to MRI. Accreditation is not permanent, and an MRI facility must resubmit testing regularly.

Northeast Radiology MRI programs are ACR® accredited.

Northeast Radiology’s Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging Accreditation

The American College of Radiology (ACR®) offers an additional Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging Accreditation. Facilities performing breast MRI must participate in peer review and constructive feedback on their staff’s qualifications, equipment, quality controls, quality assurance, MRI safety policies, and image quality.

Northeast Radiology offers breast MRI in our New York and Connecticut imaging centers.
