What is Ultrasound Imaging?
Ultrasound (US) Imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, is a method of "seeing" inside the human body through the use of high-frequency sound waves. The sound waves are recorded and displayed as a real-time visual image. No radiation is involved in ultrasound imaging.
US is a useful way of examining many of the body's internal organs, including the heart, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, uterus, ovaries and developing fetus. Because US Images are captured in real-time, they can show movement of internal tissues and organs, and enable physicians to see blood flow and heart valve functions.
Northeast Radiology, one of the most advanced imaging centers in the region, offers you and your patients the latest technology and a patient-focused, highly trained professional staff. Our Board-certified radiologists are at our main locations, which gives referring doctors direct access to our staff who can offer consultation on which modality will yield the best results for a given clinical problem. Preliminary reports are available within hours after your patient's procedure, and emergency case results are available immediately.
