| Security technology has advanced in the last five years to
the point where financial institutions all over the world conduct billions of dollars of
commerce every day over the Internet. At Northeast Radiology, we protect our
patients medical information with the same dedication, by using the latest electronic security technology, including
encryption, network access control, user-authentication, and audit trails.
Our On-line
File Room is actually more secure than many physical file rooms. Plus, the benefits of fast
and easy access to images and reports for our referring physicians mean better turn around time for patient results. Below is a brief description of the electronic
security used for our On-line File Room.
- Strong Authentication of Users Referring physicians are issued
User-IDs and PIN numbers as well as credit-card sized security 'tokens'.
These tokens generate a new random password every 60 seconds for access to the
Northeast Radiology On-line File Room. The tokens can only be accessed through use of the
individual users PIN.
- Access Control The Northeast Radiology On-line File Room
protects its web server from hackers through the use of firewall technology and data
transmission through the use of encryption.
- Audit Trails Audit trails are used to track every user that
accesses the system as well as the data that is accessed.
